SAY JH Girls fall at state....

The Carlisle Gross Lumber Soccer team played in the Ohio State SAY  Soccer Tournament this past Saturday. It was a tight game with a one to one tie going into overtime. The as the sun set the game ended in a shootout with Gross Lumber falling to Brookville in the end. The girls played a hard fought game and played the best I've seen them play all year. The team would have not been able to play next weekend had they won with more than half the team being gone on the 8th grade trip to Washington. Brookville was a good team and deserved to advance.

The Gross Lumber Team Players are:

Jessica Gable, Katie Taylor, Alyssa Profitt, Kelli Garrett, Lauren Moore, Shelbi Elliott, Sam Jackson, Liza Kouns, Ashten Henry, Hannah Henry, Kariss Alcorn, Megan Alcorn, and Callie Whaley (not pictured).

Coaches: Susan Alcorn and Kelli Henry.

Coach Bill Jewell wins special honor.....

In 2007 the OHSAA adopted a centennial logoImage via Wikipedia
Coach Bill Jewell experienced many firsts this season with the Carlisle Football squad.  First time beating Franklin, first time winning a playoff game, and coaching our Indian Football team to a 9-3 record.  All of these tremendous feats have led Coach Jewell to Ohio High School Athletic Association Southwest District Co-Coach of the Year in Division 4 with Alter Head Football Coach, Ed Domsitz.  Not bad to be Co-Coach with last year's State Champion coach and most likely 2009 State Champion coach, as well.

Coach Jewell is one of the most committed coaches we have seen and a strong work ethic that allows him to be successful.  He really knows how to motivate the boys to go out and play their hearts out game in and game out!

Congratulations Coach Jewell!!

Carlisle Indians playoff game versus Alter....

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=2feeca895e&view=att&th=124f68bb0d430a14&attid=0.1&disp=inline&zw
Last night, we witnessed history in Monroe as our Carlisle Indians took the field in their first ever Regional Semi-Final Game.  Their opponent only defending state champs Alter Knights who pummeled Johnathan Alder the week before.

Carlisle opened the game receiving the punt from the Knights.  Jordan Jacobs bobbled the opening kick off and only returned for a few yards.  The Indians went three and out on their first four drives and not gaining a 1st down till about 4:15 left in the second.  They had a pretty nice drive going to close out the 1st half.  The Indians converted a fourth down and inches and was moving the ball well.  But just crossing the 50 yard line the Indians were held to a 4th and 4 where they punted.  Halftime:  Alter 27-0

The second half was more of the same.  Alter had a relentless defense that our Indians could not do anything against and their offense amassed 300 yards on the ground!  Final:  41-0

I didn't want to discuss the game and the specifics as much as I wanted to address what I saw.  Standing down on the field I saw a sea of red and white of fans that looked as if they outnumbered Alter's fans.  I saw a team and coaches that fought hard to the very last second of the game.  I saw young men put everything on the line to help the Indians succeed.  I saw tailback sensation Nick McGill make some big hits on defense.  I saw defensive specialist Jake Langdon catch a pass to move the chains in the second half.  There were so many moments of heart, character, and hard work!!  The atmosphere was electric all the way down to the final seconds.  Carlisle parents, fans, and residents of our community cheering on an Indian team that had made history this 2009 Carlisle Indians season.

That was the coaches, that was the team, and that was the fans that made this 2009 Carlisle Football season unforgettable!!

Great articles on Carlisle Indian Football....

Due to the recent buzz and spectacular season from our Carlisle Indian Football team there has been many reports on the team and the football season.

Check out article on Deron Daws....click here.

The Seniors were highlighted in a recent pictorial.....click here.

Yesterday there was a nice article on our offensive lineman.....click here.

Then there is an insane thing out of Cleveland.  They have actually placed Vegas style official lines or spread points on the playoff games in Ohio.  Is there really betting on this?  I don't think so but found this very odd...click here to read.

Carlisle dominates NCH in 2nd Half....

Carlisle dominated North College Hill coming out of the locker room at halftime.  North College Hill was up 13-7 at half and Coach Jewell rallied the troops and the troops responded.  Our Carlisle Indians took over the second half on to their first ever playoff win in school history by winning 21-13 in the Division 4 Regional Quarterfinals.

In the first half, North College Hill raced out to a 7-0 lead by a 86 yard run.  Then on the next series Jordan "Juke Ya" Jacobs returned the favor and hit a hole and sped through the secondary for a 80 yard run score.  Kris Garrett followed it up with an extra point tying the score 7-7.

The Carlisle took a massive running attack into the game with Nick "The Real Deal" McGill and his 1250 yards rushing on the season against NCH.  And that is what powered the game.  McGill and Jacobs combined for 275 yards on the ground.

The third quarter wasn't much of anything both teams defenses holding each other down and not allowing one another to score.  But in the fourth, Carlisle had enough and from their own 45 yard line marched down the field in 9 plays where Jake "Gibby" Gibson pounded the ball in on a quarterback keeper.  Indians up 14-13.

The Indians defense then took control and forced NCH to punt and Carlisle drove the ball down from their own 40 in 12 plays and Nick McGill then took it in from the one.   Kris Garrett added both extra points and giving Carlisle some breathing room.

The Defense then continued to shutout NCH sealing the 21-13 victory!!

And at this point in time it is a PERFECT time to mention Thomas Cooper, Tyler Jewell, Dylan Parsons, Joe Downey, and Seth Everhart.  These guys are the Offensive Line that has been the wall for our great backs this year!!  Going into the season I remember many talking about the fact that Carlisle will do well because #1 Our Defense and #2 Our Offensive Line.  Two unmoveable forces for the Indians this year has made an exciting season!!

Carlisle advances to face a HUGE foe in defending state Champion Alter, the top seed in Division 4, in the Regional Semifinals next Saturday, November 14 at Monroe High School.

Ticket and more information will be available later this week.

Carlisle Indians playoff game....

Carlisle played their fifth ever playoff game tonight in School History.  The Carlisle Indians are 0-4 in playoff games ever. So going into the game with North College Hill tonight wasn't going to be easy.  Also, North College Hill was 10-0 on a season most called a weak schedule.

So the Indians traveled down and went down early 7-13 at half.  But the Indians stormed into the second half scoring two second half touchdowns and holding NCH to "0" points in the second half to take their first ever playoff game 21-13!!

Carlisle Daily will have more news, photos, and hopefully video by morning!!
