What a game!! The Carlisle Indians in a rain delayed game starts the season off with a bang!! The Indians beat the Franklin Wildcats 20-7 off of impressive running by #28 tailback Nick "The Real Deal" McGill and a stellar defensive unit!!The first quarter was back and forth with three and outs by both teams. But with 36 seconds left in the first quarter Carlisle's Bishop intercepts Franklin's QB #7 Sizemore. The interception left the Indians great field position in which they captalized on. Carlisle QB #14 Jake "Gibby" Gibson completed about a 12 yard pass to Jake Langdon that got the Indians to about the five yard line. Two plays later Nick McGill pushed it in for the TD. Kris Garrett kicked the extra point. Indians 7, Franklin 0
The second quarter was not kind to Franklin after the Indians first touchdown the defense made a HUGE stand and they had to punt from their own 3 yard line. Then a few series later Sizemore fumbles the ball on the 34 yard line and the Indians recover with 6:26 left in the second. The Indians got a FG by kicker Kris Garrett with 3:16 left in the half. Franklin pushed the ball to the Indians 27 but ran out of time. Halftime Indians 10, Franklin 0
Start of the second half, Carlisle came out aggressive on the ground with the legs of Nick McGill and Jordan "Juke Ya" Jacobs. Jacobs had about a 30 yard gain off of a massive block by QB Jake Gibson. Then "Gibby" completes about a 19 yard pass play to Emerick. A holding call pushes the Indians back to about their own 30 and Franklin holds the Indians to a FG opportunity by Kris Garrett from about 34 yards away that he barely misses by hitting the upright. Franklin puts together some impressive plays first about a 30 yard pass play by QB Sizemore and then he scrambles to pick up another first. Tailback #2 Salyers picks up their 3rd first down of the series to the Indians 11 and that ends the third quarter. Indians 10, Franklin 0
To start the fourth quarter #4 Cody Priest of Franklin pounds the ball in from the 9 yard line to get Franklin on the board! Extra Point made by Aaron Herald. The ensuing kick off Jordan Jacobs takes the ball to the Wildcats 47. From there it took only one play from #28 Nick McGill to scamper in for a 47 yard run play up the middle! Kris Garrett kicks the extra point in giving the Indians a 17-0 lead.
The fourth quarter started to get interesting Franklin was 3 and out after the Indians scored. Then "Gibby" for the Indians gets caught up in the middle and loses the ball to Franklin and Franklin takes over on their 32 yard line. Franklin QB Sizemore was under pressure all night and coughed up the ball again and Carlisle recovers.
Carlisle marched down to about the 4 yard line and was able to get a Kris Garrett FG with about 6:08 left in the game. Indians 20, Franklin 7
Franklin made it interesting marching all the way down the field to Carlisle's 15 yard line but after an illegal procedure penalty and a few incomplete passes by Sizemore they did not capitalize on a 4th and 5. Carlisle took over on downs and closed the game out by kneeing!
What a HUGE way to start the season! A big win for the Indians over Backyard Rival Franklin. The defense was HUGE forcing three fumbles and picking one pass off. Also, deflecting a number of passes that could have easily been picked off. The defenese was tenacious and really caused problems for Franklin's offense.
Carlisle Daily covered the game all night long and there will be pictures by tomorrow and a video highlight of the game by hopefully the beginning of the week. My only hope is that Gibson's hit/block was on there!
Great job guys!!

I thought the support from the Indian faithful tonight was very strong!!! I also thought the Carlisle football team was much more disiplined from the penalty standpoint than the Wildcats of Franklin! I think the Indians' confidence should be sky high going into the Brookville game. I look forward to watching another great game and performance by the Indians!!! Go Zack Young #82!!!!!
I can't remember having such a good time in a long time. From the tailgating leading up to the game, to the marching band, the cheerleading, the flag corp, and the football team – it was a great night. Thanks to all the people that volunteer to make this tradition happen for our community. I was so proud to be a CHS alumnus last night. 20 to 7…a great game!
I agree about the support from the Indian faithful! I haven't felt this much excitement and confidence in Indian football in years! We need to keep the community support high and the players will keep working hard and live up to the expectations. GREAT JOB LAST NIGHT TEAM! GO INDIANS!
Great Game! Proud of all our team. I would like to see a little more players in the game though. A lot of talent just standing there and a lot of guys playing both ways and this won't work against alot of teams.Go Ben Steward#53!! Go Grant Crowe #70!!!
