The 2009 Season has certainly been an interesting year for the Carlisle Boys Tennis team. For the first time they have won a SWBL title. This might be the first time you have seen the Tennis team highlighted on signs through the City and it definitely is the first time they have a full picture and article in the Middletown Journal. All in all, what a very nice season by a few hard working individuals that truly excelled and put Carlisle Tennis in the forefront of everyone's mind through the city! The Carlisle Tennis team is coached by Coach Tom Kishpaugh a Business/Computer Teacher in the High School. He has done an amazing job with the Tennis teams over the years and has been a strong influence in the individuals and teams he has coached. Congratulations Coach Kishpaugh for such a great year and thank you for guiding our 2009 Tennis team to SWBL Champs!!
The season though did not quite end there. The Indians were in action last night at the State Sectional tournaments. Carlisle was represented with two singles competing and two doubles team that competed.
In Singles, Zach Williams was defeated by Chris Hepner of Preble Shawnee 7-5, 6-0. In the one other singles match of the day Carlisle Ricky Barker was defeated in a close match by Jonathon Nguyen of Miami Valley 7-6, 6-4.
The story of the day though comes from our double teams. Both our teams of Josh Couch/Zach Young & Mason Motley/Ben Parks advanced out of the first round. Couch/Young defeated Ley/Zimmer of Alter in a back and forth match 7-6, 3-6, 6-3! Motley/Parks strolled through the first round defeating neighbor Valley View Keister/Bruns 6-0, 6-0.
In the second round, Couch/Young was defeated by #1 seed Ethan Greene and Aaron Pruitt of Oakwood 6-1, 6-1. Motley/Parks kept rolling by defeating Palmer/Silver of Stivers in straight sets 6-0, 6-0!
Motley and Parks breezed into the Quarterfinals were they faced off against #3 seed team Akash Goyal and Jeremy Kalben of Miami Valley. Motley and Parks did their best against the higher ranked opponent but fell 6-4, 6-2.
It was a great showing by our Indian netters and they did a fantastic job of representing our schools and community! What a great year by this solid team, thanks for the great year Indians!!
