7th and 8th Grade Kickers Girl Team open Season against each other

The 7th and 8th Grade Kickers Girl Soccer Teams open their season against each other this past weekend. There was enough players that came out that gave Carlisle two teams this year which will be a GREAT feeder program to the High School.

The two teams are Gross Lumber (Blue) and Middletown Orthopedic Sports Medicine (Lavender). They faced off against each other on Saturday, August 29 morning.

It was a back and forth game with both teams denying each other goals in the first half. In the second half though, the Gross Lumber team netted two goals in the third quarter to claim the victory.

GOOD LUCK INDIANS!!

Carlisle Stuns Franklin 20-7!!

Football Goal Posts 1 of 2Image by sameold2008 via Flickr

What a game!! The Carlisle Indians in a rain delayed game starts the season off with a bang!! The Indians beat the Franklin Wildcats 20-7 off of impressive running by #28 tailback Nick "The Real Deal" McGill and a stellar defensive unit!!

The first quarter was back and forth with three and outs by both teams. But with 36 seconds left in the first quarter Carlisle's Bishop intercepts Franklin's QB #7 Sizemore. The interception left the Indians great field position in which they captalized on. Carlisle QB #14 Jake "Gibby" Gibson completed about a 12 yard pass to Jake Langdon that got the Indians to about the five yard line. Two plays later Nick McGill pushed it in for the TD. Kris Garrett kicked the extra point. Indians 7, Franklin 0

The second quarter was not kind to Franklin after the Indians first touchdown the defense made a HUGE stand and they had to punt from their own 3 yard line. Then a few series later Sizemore fumbles the ball on the 34 yard line and the Indians recover with 6:26 left in the second. The Indians got a FG by kicker Kris Garrett with 3:16 left in the half. Franklin pushed the ball to the Indians 27 but ran out of time. Halftime Indians 10, Franklin 0

Start of the second half, Carlisle came out aggressive on the ground with the legs of Nick McGill and Jordan "Juke Ya" Jacobs. Jacobs had about a 30 yard gain off of a massive block by QB Jake Gibson. Then "Gibby" completes about a 19 yard pass play to Emerick. A holding call pushes the Indians back to about their own 30 and Franklin holds the Indians to a FG opportunity by Kris Garrett from about 34 yards away that he barely misses by hitting the upright. Franklin puts together some impressive plays first about a 30 yard pass play by QB Sizemore and then he scrambles to pick up another first. Tailback #2 Salyers picks up their 3rd first down of the series to the Indians 11 and that ends the third quarter. Indians 10, Franklin 0

To start the fourth quarter #4 Cody Priest of Franklin pounds the ball in from the 9 yard line to get Franklin on the board! Extra Point made by Aaron Herald. The ensuing kick off Jordan Jacobs takes the ball to the Wildcats 47. From there it took only one play from #28 Nick McGill to scamper in for a 47 yard run play up the middle! Kris Garrett kicks the extra point in giving the Indians a 17-0 lead.

The fourth quarter started to get interesting Franklin was 3 and out after the Indians scored. Then "Gibby" for the Indians gets caught up in the middle and loses the ball to Franklin and Franklin takes over on their 32 yard line. Franklin QB Sizemore was under pressure all night and coughed up the ball again and Carlisle recovers.

Carlisle marched down to about the 4 yard line and was able to get a Kris Garrett FG with about 6:08 left in the game. Indians 20, Franklin 7

Franklin made it interesting marching all the way down the field to Carlisle's 15 yard line but after an illegal procedure penalty and a few incomplete passes by Sizemore they did not capitalize on a 4th and 5. Carlisle took over on downs and closed the game out by kneeing!

What a HUGE way to start the season! A big win for the Indians over Backyard Rival Franklin. The defense was HUGE forcing three fumbles and picking one pass off. Also, deflecting a number of passes that could have easily been picked off. The defenese was tenacious and really caused problems for Franklin's offense.

Carlisle Daily covered the game all night long and there will be pictures by tomorrow and a video highlight of the game by hopefully the beginning of the week. My only hope is that Gibson's hit/block was on there!

Great job guys!!

Preseason is over, let the GAMES BEGIN!!

All the Fall sports preseason is over and the games have begun!! The Girls Varsity soccer program has rolled out to a 2-0 start! The Golf team has made it's way to the course with a tough loss to Monroe and some other challenges. The Boy's Soccer team was dropped due to lack of participation. The volleyball team and Girls tennis are in full force!! But the biggest start to this season if you haven't heard is the FRANKLIN VS. CARLISLE GAME tonight, August 28th at 7:30pm!!

From what we have heard the Pep Rally will be today at 1pm, Tailgating is going to start around 1-2pm. The field has been done up like no other with newly painted Indian heads adorning each side of the field and the whole town is decorated for the big game!

What better of an event to bring the town together as a rivalry like the Franklin game. It seems no matter the talent each team has this game whether be it soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and especially football it is the most interesting game of the year!! Mike Hartsock of WHIO and Kyle Nagel of Dayton Daily News were the only 2 out of 5 football experts for the Dayton Daily and WHIO to pick Carlisle to win tonight. That is pretty good that Hartsock is giving us props! This will be a HUGE battle indeed!

The Indian Football program has been working very hard for this moment and it will be a HUGE opportunity and statement to dominate and win this game! We know the coaches and players have poured a massive amount of work in the offseason from weightlifting back in the winter to practice on the field for the past month! All their hardwork has not gone overlooked and it should show on the field tonight!!

Great job to the Athletic Department, Football coaches, parents, and team for preparing for the game itself and all the way down to the look and feel of the field!!

Carlisle Daily will be on the scene all day today taking pictures and videos of the night's festivities and the game!!

GO INDIANS!!!

No Boy's Soccer this year for Carlisle High School

A soccer ball is a model of the Buckminsterful...Image via Wikipedia

We had heard rumors but now have received word that Carlisle High School will not have a 2009 Boys Soccer team.

New coach Brian Ruzzo tried his hardest along with the rest of the 13 players to try to find new recruits to come out and play but unfortunately could not produce enough of a squad to play this year.

This is very disappointing to hear and we feel terrible for those 13 boys who did want to play. We hope those boys find somewhere to play this fall via select, club, or even recreational soccer.

Hopefully, someone can come in and build up that program that has been very solid for the last five years.

Carlisle Varsity Football on Channel 7 WHIO

This week the Carlisle Varsity Football team was displayed on WHIO Channel 7 by Mike Hartsock. The Channel 7 Sports crew was on the scene of their scrimmage against West Carrolton on Tuesday morning.

The opening remarks was a bit hurtful with Mike Hartsock stating, "Carlisle has never been a contender in the SWBL race". It didn't set the stage too well. The video goes on to discuss the Indians have been 5-5 the last two years under Head Coach Bill Jewell.

Carlisle has a ton of talent returning from last year's squad and have a ton of talent in the skill positions. WHIO interviewed Coach Bill Jewell and two seniors Jake Langdon and Jake Gibson. Langdon talked about the attitude that this team has this year and the attitude they know they can win. Gibson talked about the depth of the team and how that is going to help them win games. Coach Jewell talked about this team having a lot of heart and during workouts in the offseason how Mark Townsley, AD, had to get them extra trash cans because the boys were pushing themselves so hard there was a bit more puking this year.

The close of the video discusses the Indians do not have to have much more motivation than to start their season off against arch rival Franklin. Langdon closed this segment with "We hate Franklin and they hate us....it's going to be NASTY."

Well, that is enough said. The Indians are working hard and preparing for their first game against Franklin on August 28th! This will be a HUGE game with tailgating beginning early in the day and two very excited football teams ready to battle it out on the field!

Carlisle Indians Football working hard in Preseason; Preparing for Opening Game vs. Franklin Wildcats

Carlisle Indians Football are working hard this preseason for what is hope for a very successful season. In the following weeks Carlisle Daily will be presenting a break down of ALL Fall Sports and their upcoming seasons.

The Carlisle Indians football program has many returning starters and are looking for a great season that will place them into the playoffs.

Indians Football will kick things off this Saturday at 3pm with a Pigskin Preview. They then have scrimmages set up for Tuesday, August 11th at West Carrolton (Time to Be Announced), Saturday, August 15 at Stebbins at 11:00am, then they wrap up their preseason at home on Friday, August 21st vs. Clermont Northeastern at 7:00pm.

The big preseason build up is getting heated though because the Indians will open their season with cross town rival Franklin at home on Friday, August 28th at 7:30pm.

Carlisle Daily has been informed that efforts are in place to begin a tailgating party before the game as early as possible for this HUGE game.

Also, Mayor Tim Humprhies has informed us that their is a challenge between Franklin's Mayor Denny Centers and him depending on the outcome of the game. From what we hear it could be anything from supporting the outcome of the game's winning team jersey at the next Council meeting to dressing as the winning team school's mascot at the Wrestling Grudge Match.

All in all good fun, and a great build up to the first game for our Carlisle Indians as they march into the 2009 season!!
