Carlisle High School Boys Basketball Camp and Camp Pictures

The Carlisle High School Boys Head Coach Jeff Waugh concluded his three day boys basketball camp at the High School. The camp was for 3rd-8th graders. The camp consisted of 27 players and 2 coaches and 6 high school players as instructors. The camp taught the fundamentals of basketball from ball handling, passing, shooting, and game play. It was exciting to see the boys learning the different fundamentals that will help them improve their game and help them get better at the sport of basketball. Coach Waugh stressed the importance that these three days can not be the only time to work on the fundamentals. He adamantly instructed the boys that these plays must be practiced over the summer and worked on hard in the off season to better themselves as players. The boys that attended the camp received very nice gray camp t-shirts and learned invaluable drills that will make them better players.

Girls Basketball Camp Article and Pictures

Article and pictures submitted from parent Tangie Taylor:
I must say, The girls basketball camp this year was well worth the price. Coach Glover, his coaching staff and the high school girls JV and Varsity basketball teams all did a wonderful job.

Over the course of the last 4 days, I have seen these campers improve so much. They worked on passing, shooting, lay ups, and ball handling skills. The campers enjoyed the relay races among other games, but especially enjoyed the game knock out. Everyone got along great, took turns and there were lots of words encouragement and high fives from the staff and campers alike. The girls all learned a lot at this camp.

At the end of the 4 days basketball awards were given out for camper of the week, most improved, most foul shots, team work, most hustle, for each age group,
I can't wait for my daughter to have Coach Glover and his staff in high school. His is a fantastic coach and teacher.

Carlisle Daily has all these pictures, seen above and below, and will post many other pictures from camp. If you would like to purchase any of the pictures please contact us by clicking here or emailing carlisledaily@gmail.com

Sheffter Sixth in State Semifinals!

The call came in Saturday to Carlisle Daily, Junior Taylor Sheffter earned sixth in the State Semifinals in the Hurdles on Friday afternoon in Columbus. The first four spots in her heat earned a state finals spot on Saturday.

Though, a valiant effort and unbelievable run to the State Semi's Sheffter fell a bit short! What a remarkable moment for this young athlete and for the school! Sheffter is a talented runner and is only a Junior. This will be something great to build on for next year and make Taylor Sheffter the one to watch in next years Track season.

Great job Taylor, and to her parents and all the coaches that have helped her obtain such a great reward in track this season. Good luck in the offseason and it will be awesome to look forward to what could come in her Senior season!

Taylor Sheffter off to State Meet in Track and Field!!

Carlisle Daily would like to wish Taylor Sheffter luck this weekend as she competes in state for the Carlisle High School Track team. Recently, Carlisle Daily caught up with Coach Brian Sprandel and here is what he had to say about this years track team and what Taylor has accomplished.

This has been an extremely exciting year for the Carlisle High School Girls track team. After finishing last or second to last in the league the past few years the girls were able to compete and finish 4th at the SWBL meet. At this meet the girls team had 3 record setting league champions. One of which was Taylor Sheffter who repeated her record winning performance from last year.

Coach Vasil who usually works with Taylor on the hurdles has said since last season that Taylor has the potential to be a state finalist. He works with her daily at practice on drills and her form. Taylor may not always be really excited about the conditioning aspect of practice but when it comes times for the meets she is competitor that doesn't like to lose.

After being District Champion in the 100 Hurdles and qualifying for Regionals we had a good week of practice but Taylor only qualified with the 5th fastest time for the regional final. Coach Vasil and myself are sitting and watching Taylor warm up and are asking ourselves which Taylor is going to show up today...well after the most exciting 15.7 seconds that I have had in a long time we realized the Taylor that wants to be a state finalist showed up. She dominated the race from the start to the finish as she won the race by 2 to 3 steps and became the first Regional Champion in such a long time that no one is really sure when the last one was and that is if we even have had one.

Taylor has become the first state qualifier since the mid 1990's. As a coaching staff we are really excited about watching her compete this weekend up at Ohio State at the Jesse Owens Stadium.

She runs Friday, June 5 afternoon at 2 PM and if she is one of the 4 fastest girls in her heat she will be a state finalist running at 1 PM on Saturday.

Two Carlisle Coach Pitch Teams earn Finals spot in Madison Tourney!

Champions Buckeye Elite

This past weekend we reported several teams entered the Madison Coach Pitch Tourney. The Archery Shop and Echo Photography fell short but Buckeye Elite and State Farm entered the Championship game to face each other.

Buckeye Elite took first place by beating State Farm and winning the weekend tournament. What a great showing as a visitor to Madison's tournament by our Carlisle Teams.

Congrats to Buckeye Elite and great job to all the coaches and players of all teams!
Both Champions Buckeye Elite in Gray and Runner up State Farm.
